Two Chico schools locked down after teens brandish fake gun nearby
Chico >> Two Chico schools were on lockdown for 15 minutes Monday morning after several boys with an apparent gun were reported in the area.
The reporting party said her husband had gotten into an altercation with the teens over recent area thefts. One of the juveniles lifted his shirt and exposed the gun from his front waistband.
Chico police were able to later locate five teenage boys between 13 and 17 years old at an apartment at 2161 Hartford Drive and also located a replica of a semi automatic handgun.
No arrests were made after the reporting party was unable to identify the suspect. The juveniles were uncooperative and were later turned over to a parent.
Marsh Principal Jay Marchant said Chico police had asked the school to enter lockdown while officers conducted a sweep of the campus for a possible intruder.
